Hi guys, Chung Cheng High Yishun's Chinese Orchestra and Festival Drum Group will be holding a concert, "Musical Concert" at Singapore Conference Hall on Sunday, 20th December 2009, at 7.00 PM. The concert will feature famous classical Chinese pieces performed by a full orchestra of over 120 members and our Festival Drums group. The programme includes full orchestra, Wind and Percussion Ensemble, String Ensemble, Plucking Ensemble, Guzheng Solo as well as a combined item with our Festival Drums group and orchestra.

Anyonw interested can tell me, Amanda or Charis about it and we'll help you get the tickets if not, you can contact SISTIC at 6348 5555 directly for booking of tickets. Each ticket is priced at $13 inclusive of SISTIC administrative fee.

Hope that you guys will support their concert and I'm sure next year our concert will have their support too! (:

i hope you all did your exams well. ^^

practice will most probably resume on next wednesday. TENTATIVE. i have no idea also.

when practice starts, please do bring back your instruments and practice! and practice in the correct way, you won't want to get #$%^&-ed at even if you did practice. (coughs) and also, if you haven't forgotten, the concert's due next year june, which is like... eight months... and MYE period doesn't have practice...

Eight months is not long enough for you to slack, but long enough for you to brush up on your skills. Chiong 冬 like crazy now and suffer less in the future. applies to other songs. !_!

We had Proved wat huang sheng said. We need not be the best school in academics but we can still achieved the best, better than the top schools! We had Shown to the other chinese orchestra schools that we AHMAD IBRAHIM SECONDARY SCHOOL CAN PLAY 十面埋伏, THE SONG THAT NO SCHOOL EVER ATEMPTED BEFORE IN SYF.

With hard work we can really do it. The next batch, whoever the next comm or next few batch are, Hav that same determination, have the same spirit and 灌输 all of the skills and knowledge to all of the juniors. WE HOPE THAT THE NEXT BATCH CAN GET THE FIRST GWH BACK FOR URSELVES. WE know u guys can do it....

hi guys

i see some improvement today in the CO room but still it is not good enuff so u guys hav to work hard.

Several things are not so good:

1) Tai Feng - i dun see Erhu, tanbo doing much, guanyue and percussion especially is not good at
all. It is onli when everyone do it, then we can secure the gold
2) Skills - i dun see the reason to why we cannot get a gold for SYF this year. We completed both
the set piece and the choice piece and we have about a month left. today what i saw in
the CO room was a bunch of people who have yet mastered the song completely. all of
u hav finished learning the song and had practice it over and over again but it still lack
of the feel
3) looking at the conductor - most took the initiative to look but i still see some not doing so

4) seating half chair - the most basic thing of being in an orchestra. u must really do it

so i can assure u that the standard we played in the CO room is a silver standard but quite a way to go to reach gold. but with determination i believe that we can do it. I seen many CO and i m sure that AICO will be on that list of GOLD if every one puts in their hard work.

MID year exams is coming our way, to cope on both side of CCA and studies, it is best to start studying now for mid year. TO the sec 4s just bear with it and give it our best after 4 years of hardwork will all boil down to 22 april.

SYF this year, we are not placed in a veri good date. Last day of SYF when the judge seen many of the top schools but the thing is this, if we played well, a GOLD IS NOT A PROB but once we screw up it might end up a BRONZE. but i m sure that u guys want results at the end of the day. IF u do not put in hardwork, there will definately be no results at all.

SO LETS WORK HARD AND NOT LET HUANG LAO SHI DOWN. WE CAN DO IT.
there is a proverb that goes like this:

IF U FAIL TO PLAN, U PLAN TO FAIL.

BUT NOW THAT WE KNOW AND WE PLAN FOR THE BEST RESULTS, AT THE END OF THE DAY ON THE DAY OF SYF, I WILL ASSURE U THAT THE TEARS THAT FLOW OUT OF UR EYES WILL BE TEARS OF JOY AND NEVER SADDNESS

Hey guys, I changed the blogskin, after abandoning this blog for so long. :D
In the blink of eye, we are only left with a month to SYF.
And I sincerely hope that all of you will make good use of this time.

For that rehearsal at SCH on 10Mar, please view it as something serious.
To be frank, the 2 songs were not even up to standard.
I understand many of you are afraid up on the stage, but please remember that for that many months you took to practice, you only get to spend that few minutes up the stage.
If you just screwed that few minutes up, no matter how much hard work you put it, will straight away go into waste.
Thus, please continue to work hard, stay as one on the stage, and look at huang lao shi at all time.

Also, our 3days camp had passed.
Some of our alumni actually came back to provide help, and I hope you had valued their presence.
Please keep their teachings and comments in mind, and don't let them, our instructors, and teachers down.
They scold us because they care.

Lastly, let's just be stressed for the last month, it'll passed very quickly.

Hi to all,

Camp is 2morrow. It will be a technical camp. Camp is COMPLUSORYI hope that thru the intensive training laid out these few days, you guys can buck up on all the songs that were given to you all.

Several expectation for all:
1) Choice & set piece MUST finish learning by these 3 days
2) must memorise both the pieces by this camp
3) Start to train on tai feng

Just these 3. IF can finish it will be veri good. As this is a Day camp, you are not expected to bring anything esle but ur scores and instruments. Make use of all the time given and use it well.
We are left with not alot of time until next year SYF... Gold is our aim and if everyone work hard, it is achievable.

There will be games laid out for you all so enjoy during it. When it is game time, we shall enjoy it to the fullest... Play hard and practice hard. the pieces we are playing for SYF are tough but we can make it there to the standard if we wan. nothing is impossible if we work hard. So HOPE YOU ALL ENJOY THE CAMP!

hi to all

the O levels will be starting next week. The school had announced that all pupils are to go home at 12. However CO PRACTCE WILL STILL CONTINUE AT THE SAME TIME. All are expected to come. We must hurry in finishing the choice piece... Huang Lao shi alreadi said that we could finish the piece by next week. so we must not let him down! All of us must buck up, now that exams are over, there is no more reason in skipping practice. So I would expect all to be punctual on all practice...

For the sec 4s, next week is ur O levels. ALL THE BEST! hope u guys can score well...

CO Rules

1. Shoes must be kept in shoe cabinets during each practice.

2. Reach 20 minutes earlier before each practice. (especially during combined practice)

3. All members have to be seated at their seats 10mins before practice begins

4. Stay quiet during combined practice. (especially when huang lao shi is talking)

5. When someone is taking in the CO room all members must be quiet

6. No eating in CO room.

7. Chairs and instruments are to be kept at respective place after each practice.

8. Bags must be kept in the cupboards at the back at all times.

9. Do not be rude to seniors.

10. Pay CO funds on time.

11. Be responsible to all instruments and scores.

12. If absent during practice, MC or a parent letter must be produced.

13. No playing of hand phones or taking out of hand phones during each practice

14. When waiting for the door to open, all instruments and bags shall only be put outside the CO
room door area only.(no instruments should be put along the Corridor).

*parent’s letter can only be used twice.

These are the rules we expect u all to follow strictly.

Here are some of the schedules till the end of the holiday:
02/03 : People's association performance at Esplanade
Attire: CO tee! and pants anything as long as it is FORMAL. Shoes only. For sec 1s, you are allowed to wear any shirt. More info will be given ^^
Time: assemble at Yishun control station at 12.30 pm. Concert will start at 3pm, seatings will be first come first serve. So we need to be early! I'm not sure how long it last, but be prepared to have at least 1 hour there.

03 - 07/03 : NO practice due to OLE 2 and 3
10 - 11/03 : Day camp from morning till evening (time is not scheduled yet)
13 - 14/03 : Combined Practice ( time is not scheduled yet)
other schedules will be informed by Ms Chiau or me. Take note this days first ^^

Aftermath of Outing

It is a pretty long day and its showering the whole time. The rain spoiled most of fun that was supposed to have, but thanks to the seniors, especially Adib, we had a very enjoyable time playing at the beach. PLEASE do not any grudge against those who threw at you or push whatever. It is just for the sake to let you all enjoy. Have a nice holiday and rest well! It will be another tiring year when school starts again. ( The concert coming up)

AICO Outing '07

After the long practices for this year, finally we get to rest!
We will be going out to enjoy the day together with our respected SENIORS!!!
Here are the details:

Date: 21/11/2007 (Wednesday)
Location: East Coast Park
Time: 11:30a.m - 8.00pm
Things to bring: Extra Clothing, Cash, Towel, and other essential stuffs
Pit number: Area C, 26
Seniors are welcome to come along, but sad to say that you CANNOT follow us with our bus =X
This is due to the space constraint we have currently.

Seniors please inform any of our committee members if you wanna come along. Please confirm it latest by 10 November (Saturday).

The bus will be leaving at 12 pm and come back to school at around 9 pm.

THANKS for the hard work you guys have done for CO and we all appreciate it alot!

Things to note:

1)Performers can be released from class at 1.20 pm to make necessary preparations.
2) Group leaders are responsible for the arrangement and clearing up of all the necessary logistics (instruments, chairs, stands, etc...)
3) Teacher-in-charge may not be present to assist due to lessons (if keys to respective rooms are needed, please make prior arrangement with teachers in charge)
4) Performers needed to be seated by 1.55 pm at performance venue (outside bookshop).Groups which are not first to go will set up near the first group within sight of crowd.
For more information ask your group leaders.
5) Perfomance starts promptly at 2 pm right after the first bell. (this is regardless of whether there are students around. Crowd will automatically gather when they hear the music)
6) Each performance should not exceed 5 minutes. Entire performance should end before 2.20 pm.
7) Please look for Mrs Cherry Goh if there are any other enquiries (6555 9052).

On 07.08.2007, Tuesday, our CO tee 2007 will be giving out to those who paid.
Be sure to be present for that day~!
Its red in colour so u all can wear for national day celebration on wednesday.

Just to remind CO members that our CO camp will be held on 6 sept and 7 sept (thurs and fri).
This is going to be a 2 days 1 night camp, and it is compulsory for all members to attend. If there is any reasons (e.g: overseas trip) that you are unable to attend the camp or stay overnight, please inform your SL or Sigit. The camp fund will be $10, which include the CO fund for August (meaning that you do not have to pay CO fund during the month of August). If you are a vegetarian or there is any food that you cannot eat, please inform your SL or sigit. If you are on medication during the period of camp, please do inform one of the leaders (comittee members). More details will be updated soon. If there is any doubts, feel free to look for us. Try to make yourself free during these 2 days. Hope you all will enjoy the camp..!!!

Casual Lunchtime Concert

In the effort to promote the appreciation of Performing Arts in school, we will be putting up Casual Lunchtime Concert" " fortnightly. The Performing Arts groups will be kickstarting this lunchtime the concert series since this is what we do best in the AI community. Thereafter the “stage” will be opened to any interested musicians in the AI community who wish to showcase their talents.

The following are some guidelines to take note when preparing:
1. Groups can be in the form of small ensembles of about 2 to 8 people (E.g. Percussion ensemble, brass quartet, pipa duet, male Acapella group, etc.)

2. Solo performances are encouraged for competent members

3. Any pieces such as pop songs can be performed. They need not be pieces given by instructors. (Approach with your teachers-in-charge or myself if in doubt)

4. Time: Wednesdays @ 2.15pm (fortnightly), starting 15 August 2007
Venue: Outside general office (No microphones required as the natural acoustics of the
enclosed area is the best)
Duration: About 5 to 10 minutes per group (1-2 pieces)

Please give the details to Sigit latest by 1st august. Thank you. Sec 1s are encourage to join. For more information, please find our teacher-in-charge.
